New Subaru 2000 for sale |
| | Subaru Impreza RB5 Build No 124 .
| Hi , and welcome to an auction for my RB5, I bought this car last year from a guy who had lost the keys 2 years previous, It had sat in his Dad`s back ...> garden for that time, All service history has been lost and there were no keys, | I bought it with the intention of bringing it back to life, However, family commitment and new Job forces me to sell before it is completed, | I ordered the key direct from Subaru and now locks and unlocks all doors, It will not crank as the key needs to be programmed, I have cranked the engine over and have checked that there is good oil pressure when cranking, which there is, I cant see any reason for the engine not to start once the key is coded, However, that was a risk I took when buying and i would pass the same sentiments on to the perspective buyer. Is was only taken off the road due to insurance costs not affordable and then the keys were lost. | I have fitted brand new discs and pads all round as the ones that were on there had rusted and were seizd, All brakes are now freed off, Although I have not re-fitted the handbrake shoes, I do have the new parts to go with the car, I havnt fitted these due to not knowing how long the car would be sat for, | Its a genuine car that is near stamdard apart from a "Jasma" rear exhaust box and aftermarket dumpvalve, It even has the origonal radio cassette and 6 disc cd changer. | Body work wise, the car has some battle scars and is no way concours, the odd dent and scrape here and there, | The only rust on the car is in the picture shown where the O/S sill spoiler rubs through the paintwork underneath the drivers door, If you know these cars then you will understand that the rear arches are prone to corrosion, This car does not have any rust on the arches, I have even looked and cleaned behind the known areas and all is rust free. Very rare to find one without rust here. | Worst point, It is a cat D write off back in 2003 which to the best of my knowledge was due to drivers side damage, including wing and both doors, the repairs look reasonable and it has origonal paintwork to the sill and pillars so would assume it was just cosmetic damage, | Not alot of work would get this car back on the road, I just purely dont have the time, Reep my downfall. A future classic that is getting rarer by the day. | Bidding is to buy, not kick the tyres and negotiate, I will not ship abroad or sell outside of UK Ebayers, | The car will need to be trailored away, There is no MOT or TAX, I do have the logbook in my name, | Any questions,,,, please ask | Deposit via paypal with the rest cash on collection | X

Compact The Subaru Impreza is a compact car that was first introduced by Subaru in 1993.
"Impreza" is a coined word, deriving from an originally Italian word, impresa, meaning a feat, achievement or undertaking.[1]
The Impreza was introduced after the popular Leone/Loyale was cancelled with the aging EA series engine. The Impreza was introduced with the popular EJ series engine found in the larger Subaru Legacy. In Japan, the Impreza sells more than the larger Legacy due to Japanese vehicle size legislation, which offers a reduced tax liability because of its smaller exterior dimensions.
Compared to vehicles in a similar size class such as Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra, Suzuki SX4, Mitsubishi Lancer (including Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution) and Mazda Protegé/Mazda Axela, only the Impreza has always offered AWD. Subaru Impreza made this feature standard equipment in all trims, while its competitor, Mitsubishi Lancer puts this feature to Ralliart trims and Evolution versions. Subaru produces a lower volume of slightly upscale, well-equipped, sportier Impreza models, unlike other contemporaries in the compact category that offer no-frills base trims. [2]
Subaru chose to continue their longstanding use of the boxer engine in the Impreza. According to Subaru, their configuration of the engine inline with the transmission minimizes body roll due to the lower center of gravity compared with offset engines in most other vehicles. This is similar to the design of the Citroen 2CV, providing light weight and compact, economic design for basic cars. The boxer design provides good vibration mitigation due to the principles of a balanced engine because the movement of each piston is largely countered by a piston in the opposing cylinder bank, eliminating the need for a counter-rotating weighted crankshaft (harmonic balancer), but with some vibration from offsets. Torque steer is also reduced with this type of powertrain layout since the front drive shafts are of equal length and weight.[3] Wikimedia Commons has media related to: Subaru Impreza Contents 1 First generation - "GC"/"GF"/"GM"

Subaru Forester Introduced in November 1993, the Impreza was offered in either front wheel drive (FWD) or all wheel drive (AWD) versions and as a four-door sedan/saloon or five-door station wagon/estate. According to a Motor Trend article written March 1992 on page 26, the name of Subaru's new compact was, initially, to be called the Loyale, displaying an official photograph of the 4-door sedan. In late 1995, a two-door coupe was introduced. The Impreza, like many Subaru-built cars, was equipped with a flat engine, a distinguishing Subaru characteristic. Initial engine choices included 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated engines as well as the turbocharged and intercooled 2.0-litre engine. The basic turbocharged motor, the EJ20, produced from 244 PS (179 kW; 241 bhp) to 210 kW (286 PS; 282 bhp) in Japanese market WRX trim depending on model and year. Outside Japan, the turbocharged model was initially rated at 211 PS (155 kW; 208 bhp) and marketed as the 2.0 Turbo, 2.0 GT, 2.0 GT Turbo, 2.0 WRX, or Turbo 2000 AWD in the United Kingdom.
Trim levels were LX, GL and Sport. LX models were front-wheel drive, and powered by a 1.6-litre engine; these were four-door only. GL trim levels were either front-wheel drive (Subaru badged these 2WD) or all-wheel-drive (badged AWD); cars launched in 1993 had a choice of 1.6 and 1.8 flat-4 engines, the 1.6 being available with 2WD, the 1.8 an AWD version only. From 1996, the 1.6 and 1.8 versions were dropped (in the European market), and replaced by a 2.0-litre engine. Sport versions had alloy wheels, and a 2.0-litre engine only. These were "warm hatch" versions which were similar to the WRX, albeit less adorned.
In 1994, Subaru introduced Subaru Technica International (STi) versions of the Impreza in the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) and European Domestic Market (EDM). These models were upgraded from the WRX in many categories, including blueprinted performance-tuned engines, transmissions, and suspensions. The STi versions of the Impreza were immensely successful in rallies and popular among street racers. The first STi models featured higher power ratings than the WRX, while later versions of both WRX and STi were rated at 280 PS (206 kW; 276 bhp) due to the Japanese manufacturers' informal agreements around power ratings. Its top speed was electronically limited at 180 km/h (110 mph) and it had a 0–100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds in the UK Impreza Turbo 218 PS (160 kW; 215 bhp) version. 2006 WRX STI claimed 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.[4] RA (Race Altered) versions of the WRX and STi were also available in the Japanese market. Targeted for race and rally, the RA versions were generally lighter in weight; featuring reduced soundproofing, manual windows, no air conditioning, and added racing features such as more robust engines, driver controlled center differentials, and shorter gearing.
Special editions of the Impreza were very common in Japan and Europe, many coinciding with a significant World Rally Championship victory. These editions included the Series McRae, 555, Catalunya, Terzo, RB5, P1, and 22B, the latter still considered by many to be the ultimate Impreza of all time with its wide arched rally style body.
During this generation, Subaru made a limited edition Impreza Sport Wagon called the CasaBlanca,[5] which had a retro front and rear end treatment, which was inspired by the popular kei car Subaru Vivio Bistro styling package and Subaru Sambar Dias Classic. The Sport Wagon was also offered with the WRX turbocharged engine, and was called the Gravel Express.
The Impreza received an external facelift for the 1997 model year, followed by an interior redesign in 1998, using the new redesigned dashboard from the Forester.
The European 1999-2000 turbo model received further upgrades in the form of more parts from the STi range. The front brakes became Subaru branded 4-pot calipers with 294 mm discs, the wheels having become 16-inch (410 mm) lightweight alloys from 1998 - previously 15-inch (380 mm), vented rear discs, the Sti 4 high level wing was fitted to the saloon, Sti style front bucket seats and firmer suspension. The phase 2 engine now fitted developed 160 kW (218 PS; 215 bhp), an increase of 5 kW (7 PS; 7 bhp) over the previous model.
The story of the North American Impreza is much different than the rest of the world. North American markets never received a turbocharged version of the first generation Impreza (it was heavily rumored in 1998 and 1999). Subaru never had a performance image in North America, so Subaru initially offered the Impreza with the 1.8L engine only, with either front- or all-wheel drive; a 2.2-liter engine became optional in 1995. Subaru later decided to emphasize all-wheel drive, making it standard on every Impreza (and Legacy) from 1997 onwards.
There was a minority that knew of the Impreza's accomplishments overseas and was very interested in having a high-performance Impreza. To test the waters for a full-fledged turbo model Subaru showcased a turbocharged version of the Impreza at various car shows around the country. The vehicle was named the 2.5RX and is now located in Subaru of America's Cherry Hill, NJ storage facility. Subsequently the 2.5RS performance model was introduced in 1998 (the same year the 1.8-liter engine was dropped). A naturally-aspirated 165 bhp (123 kW; 167 PS) 2.5L DOHC engine and larger brakes, borrowed from the Legacy, were fitted into the coupe body with gold-colored 16" five-spoke wheels. The 2.5RS also featured several external cues from its overseas brethren such as hood vents, a hood scoop, and a rally-inspired rear spoiler. The 1999 model featured several changes: the newly designed "Phase II" SOHC version of the same 2.5L engine featured a slightly higher peak torque (225 N·m (22.9 kgf·m; 166 ft·lbf) vs. 220 N·m (22 kgf·m; 160 ft·lbf)), the wheels turned to a standard silver, the interior got an update, and US versions became visually similar to their Japanese contemporaries with an updated front bumper borrowed from the Japanese Version 6 Impreza WRX STi. 2.5RS models became available in sedan form in 2000. Subaru Forester
Saab 9-2X Subaru introduced the "New Age" Impreza to the world market in 2001. The second generation Impreza was intended to be larger, safer, stiffer, more refined, and more responsive. For many enthusiasts, the changes in the new car made it less desirable because it was heavier and slower with less of a raw edge to it.[citation needed] The WRX Sedan had a 20 mm wider track than its predecessor to aid handling, while the wagon remained the same. The coupe model was no longer available. The headlamp styling of the New Age Impreza was polarizing, but the improvements to the car brought greater mainstream acceptance.
For quick and easy reference to the different exteriors, some Subaru Impreza owners use nicknames based on the headlights. Each relates to a creature that has similar looking eyes: 2002–2003 are 'bug eyes' / 2004–2005 are 'crocodile eyes' or 'blob eyes' / 2006–2007 are 'hawk eyes'.
In the United States, release of the basic 227 bhp (169 kW; 230 PS) 2.0 L turbocharged Impreza, the WRX, did not occur until the 2002 model year, and the Impreza WRX STi was delayed until the 2004 model year. The US version of the STi includes various departures from the Japanese and European counterparts, such as a turbocharged 2.5 L EJ257 engine, rather than the twin scroll turbo 2.0 L engine sold elsewhere. All 2006 American Imprezas use some form of the 2.5 L EJ25 engine since naturally aspirated and turbo charged are available. 2004 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS Some customers' and the press' negative reaction to the New Age Impreza's styling forced Subaru to facelift the car in 2003 for 2004 model year,[weasel words] with more conventional, rectangular headlamps, nicknamed 'crocodile eyes' (although many still use the 'blob eyes' nickname). For the US market, the facelifted Impreza was offered as 2.5 RS Sedan and TS Wagon, 2.5 Outback Sport Wagon, WRX Sedan and Wagon, and the new WRX STi Sedan. Sport Package was optional for the RS, and the WRX could be ordered with Premium Package. The RS, TS, Outback Sport, and WRX are available with manual or automatic transmission, while the sole transmission for the STi is 6 speed manual.
All 2006 Imprezas, including the performance models, have been redesigned again with the controversial "jet intake and wings" grille first debuted on the Subaru B9 Tribeca crossover SUV, along with new headlights (nicknamed 'hawk eyes'), taillights, and bumpers. Opinion on this style is split, but is generally regarded as better applied on the Impreza than the Tribeca.[citation needed] The grille design was dropped in the 3rd generation Impreza, due to the restyling. The 2.5 RS was dropped from the line up, and replaced by the base model 2.5i.
The most basic Impreza in Japan is 1.5 i with 1.5 liter EJ15 SOHC engine. The 1.5 R comes with the 1.5 L DOHC engine with AVCS, but is only available with automatic transmission, whereas the 1.5i model is available with either automatic or manual transmission. For both models, AWD and 2WD versions are available. Option packages for either the 1.5i or 1.5R include wheel type, size, bucket seats, and white LED illuminated gauge meters. Starting with model year 2006, the EJ15 was replaced with the new EL15
In 2005, Subaru made their AVCS standard on all engines used in the Impreza.
For export market, the all-wheel drive 1.6 TS is offered in Singapore and other Asian countries. The 1.5 sedan is normal body similar to the Sports Wagon. The TS shares wide body with WRX and WRX STI.
[edit] 2004
Models offered in Australia in 2004 included the GX (2.0 L engine, this model has become the baseline Impreza in Australia), RV (2.0 L engine, styled for active lifestyles, similar to the USA-spec Impreza Outback Sport), RS (2.5 L engine, sport model) along with the WRX and STi version thereof. The RX model has been abandoned in Australia, and its position in the Impreza line-up has been subsumed by the GX (which had formerly been a sparsely outfitted budget model). A variant of the RS for Australia is the RS-X, which whilst technically not a naturally-aspirated version of the WRX as is often claimed, does feature many WRX components, including wheels and brakes, in a package powered by the 2.5 litre drivetrain.
[edit] 2005–2007
In late 2004 a new range was released; including the entry-level 2.0i (formerly GX), RV, 2.0R (formerly RS), WRX and WRX STi models. The 2.0R changed from a 2.5 L engine to a slightly more powerful 2.0 L engine; while the turbocharged WRX changed from a 2.0 L engine to a 2.5 L engine. The automatic transmission was dropped from the WRX, despite the popularity of the sports shift automatic in other Subarus such as the Outback. In 2006 the automatic transmission was added to the Limited package, which includes heated leather seats, power mirrors, heated wiper blades and a sunroof. Side airbags were added as standard across the range. Subaru Impreza WRXs have been bought by French Gendarmerie for its Motorway patrols. At the New York Auto Show, Subaru introduced a new WRX.[6] 2002–2003 Subaru Impreza sedan (US) 2006–2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i sedan (US) 2005–2007 Subaru Impreza wagon (EU) Subaru Impreza 1.6 TS used by the Singapore Police Force [edit] Third generation - "GE"/"GH"/"GR" Third generation Production

Subaru Forester
Subaru Exiga [edit] 2008 2008–2009 Subaru Impreza R sedan (Australia) On 2 April 2007, Subaru officially unveiled the next generation Impreza WRX at the 2007 New York Auto Show.[7] In contrast to its usual rival, the Mitsubishi Lancer, the Impreza WRX is increasingly being positioned as a 'practical' performance car - the suspension for instance is more accommodating of everyday roads.[8][9] Similar to the marketing of the Lancer, Subaru plans to offer a lower volume of slightly upscale, well-equipped, sportier Impreza models, unlike other contemporaries such as the Honda Civic, Mazda3, and Toyota Corolla that offer no-frills base trims. [2] The new Impreza is offered as both a 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback.
The new base model Impreza is slightly longer, wider and has a longer wheel base. The dashboard in the Impreza is much more open and is easy to configure. Two Subaru traditions have been ended with the new Impreza: the parking light switch atop the steering column is no longer present, and for the first time the windows have frames to improve NVH levels.[10] MY2011 Subaru Impreza R hatchback (Australia) In the Japanese domestic market the range comprises the 1.5 litre 15S using the EL15 series engine, the 2.0 litre 20S and the 2.0 litre turbocharged S-GT using the EJ20 series engine. Variations are found in other markets around the world: In Australia the range at launch included three 2.0 litre models (the R, RX and RS) and a 2.5 litre turbocharged WRX.
In the United States market (the US and Canadian markets were the only ones to receive the sedan until it made its Japanese debut in fall 2008 as 'Impreza Anesis') for the 2008 model year, the model range consists of the 2.5 liter, 2.5i and Outback Sport and the 2.5 liter turbocharged WRX. Both the 2.5 and the 2.5i are electronically limited from surpassing 190 km/h (120 mph). The EJ253 engine carries over from the previous generation to power the 2.5i and the EJ255 engine carries over from the previous generation (although it now uses many external engine components from the Legacy GT) to power the turbocharged WRX trim levels. In the Canadian market, the base Impreza 2.5i model received upgrades for the 2009 model year, including rear disc brakes, electronic stability control and traction control, and body-colored door handles, features previously only found on the 2.5 Sport and more expensive trims. MY2011 Subaru Impreza XV hatchback (Australia) Interior From September 2007 the Impreza range in Australia has been changed with models designated R, RX, RS and WRX. Initially only hatch models were offered. The R, RX and RS all share the same engine - a new 2.0 L, with 110 kW (150 PS; 148 bhp) @ 6400 rpm and 196 Nm @ 3200 rpm. Subaru recommends that the new engines be run on 95 RON premium unleaded fuel. Another noticeable difference from the Japanese Impreza is the removal of the "Engine Start" button from the Australian model. The iconic WRX has largely unchanged engine power output of 169 kW (230 PS; 227 bhp) and 320 Nm from its 2.5 L engine. As with previous versions, there will only be a manual version of the WRX. The weight of the car also has been lightened (by ~50 lbs) to just 1400 kg, and gives the WRX a 0–100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds. In contrast, curb weight of the standard Impreza model is ~60 lbs heavier, although still lighter than the WRX trim level.
In Israel, the Impreza is denoted as the B3, and three styles are offered: the B3 1.5, with a 1.5 liter engine, the B3 2.0 and the B3 2.0 Sport, both with 2.0 liter engines. Four-door and five-door models are available for each engine type, ranging from the basic R class, to the medium RX and top RXI class. No 2.5 liter engine option is available.[11]
The third generation Impreza is sold in certain Asian countries in 1.5 R, 2.0 R, 2.0 S-GT, 2.5 WRX, and 2.5 WRX STI trim levels. In Indonesia, the Impreza is only available as 5 door Hatchback only, but all trim levels are offered. The 1.5 R and 2.0 R can be ordered with Dual Range 5 speed manual, or 4 speed automatic SPORTSHIFT electronically-controlled transmission. However, in Singapore and Thailand, the Impreza 1.5 R, 2.0 R, and 2.5 WRX are also offered as 4 door Sedan. MY2008 Subaru Impreza WRX hatchback (US) The latest-generation of the WRX STI which is built as "wide body" hatchback only debuted in the Tokyo Auto Show in October 2007. The release date for a US launch was in March 2008. The WRX STI chassis code is GR, different from the GH used for the "standard body" hatchback WRX chassis. The Japanese WRX STI is powered by 2.0 liter improved EJ207 engine with twin scroll turbo, while the American and other export models has 2.5 liter EJ257 with single scroll turbo. The Impreza WRX STI features a Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD).
[edit] Facelift 2010 Subaru Impreza RX hatchback (Australia) A facelifted 2010 model of the Subaru Impreza went on sale in late 2009, receiving a new grille insert.
In the 2010 New York International Auto Show, Subaru unveiled the 2011 model year "wide body" Impreza WRX Sedan and Hatchback, as well as the Impreza WRX STI 4 door Sedan. The new STI Sedan features high rear spoiler similar to the old STI.
[edit] Safety
Safety of the car has been increased with range wide inclusion of Stability/Traction control as standard in some markets. In early September 2007, the IIHS crash-tested the 2.5i 5-door Impreza and gave it the highest ranking available due to the test results the car achieved, continuing Subaru's reputation for producing cars that consistently earn the institutes highest rating.[12]
The Impreza also achieved a 5 Star Safety Rating, and a 4 Star Pedestrian Safety rating in the ANCAP crash tests.
[edit] Diesel
A boxer diesel engine, called the Subaru EE, for European Impreza models was introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The diesel Impreza was made available for sale in several European countries in early 2009, with the 2.0 litre turbodiesel engine of 150 horsepower. Two models are available as of July 2009, 2.0 TD and 2.0 TD Sport, which is better equipped.[13]
[edit] Reputation
Subaru uses the Impreza chassis for the mechanical underpinnings of the Forester, a small crossover SUV designed to compete in the segment comprising the Honda CR-V and Ford Escape.
As a result of GM's investment in Fuji Heavy Industries and ownership of Saab, the badge engineered Saab 9-2X used the second generation Impreza wagon, released in 2005 (given the rally-derived "Saab Rally Wagon")[14] which was discontinued in 2006 due to the dissolution of the Subaru-GM partnership.
Subaru sold a cosmetically altered (in the neoclassic style) sedan and wagon in Asia called the Subaru Casa Blanca.
[edit] Motorsports 2006 Impreza Rally Car Stéphane Sarrazin driving a Subaru Impreza WRC on the Monte Carlo Rally The Impreza chassis has been more successful in rallying than Subaru's previous contenders. Prior to the introduction of the Impreza into World Rally Championship racing in 1993, the Subaru World Rally Team had fielded its larger mid-size Legacy. However, with the rest of the rally competition increasingly shifting towards smaller and lighter chassis, Subaru introduced the smaller Impreza, immediately achieving a podium on its debut on the 1993 1000 Lakes Rally. To jumpstart its early rally efforts, and to develop the Impreza into a competitive rally car, Subaru teamed up with its current preporatory firm, British motorsports company Prodrive, in 1989.
Immediately following the first overall WRC event win for both the fledgling Subaru team and its young driver, the late Colin McRae aboard a Group A Legacy on the 1993 Rally New Zealand, the Scotman's team-mate and childhood idol, 1981 World Rally Champion, Ari Vatanen of Finland, went on to finish second in the debut rally of the first ever factory Impreza. New recruit for the following season, 1990 and 1992 World Champion, Carlos Sainz brought the Impreza its inaugural victory on the 1994 Acropolis Rally.
The Impreza brought Subaru three consecutive WRC constructors' titles (1995–1997, the latter season the first for the newly introduced World Rally Car class) and a driver's championship for McRae in 1995, the late Richard Burns in 2001, and the Norwegian, Petter Solberg in 2003.
Another evolution of the Impreza WRC made its debut in the 2007 Corona Rally Mexico. Unfortunately, the team had several major problems with reliability as the car experienced mechanical difficulties in almost every rally from its first.
Subaru debuted an Impreza WRC in hatchback form for the first time from the 2008 Acropolis Rally onwards, on which event Solberg scored a second place finish.
On 16 December 2008 Subaru announced that it would withdraw from the World Rally Championship due to economic problems.[15]
However, the Subaru Rally Team USA is still competing in the Rally America National Championship. Also, there are still several teams using Subaru models in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
[edit] Safety
In Australia, the 1993-2004 Subaru Impreza was assessed in the Used Car Safety Ratings 2006 as providing "average" protection for its occupants in the event of a crash.[16][17][18] In frontal-offset and side crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the United States, the second-generation Impreza earned "Good" ratings. 2005-2007 models also earned a "Good" rating for rear crash protection (head restraint design) placing it at the top of IIHS small car ratings.
The third generation MY2008 Impreza continued the tradition and also earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety highest rating for "Good" in each individual test, earning an overall score of "Good".[12]
The third generation MY2008 Impreza hatchback received five stars (34.66 out of 37 points) for occupant protection and a four star pedestrian rating under testing by ANCAP.[19]
[edit] Awards and acknowledgments
The Impreza was Wheels magazine's Car of the Year for 2000. Car and Driver Magazine named the North American market WRX to its prestigious 10-best list in 2002, with a follow-up performance in 2003.

Front engine, symmetrical all wheel drive The Subaru Impreza WRX is a turbocharged version of the Subaru Impreza, an all-wheel drive, four-door passenger vehicle. It is available as a sedan or wagon.
Originally introduced in 1992 in Japan, then shortly afterward in New Zealand, Australia and Europe, the WRX had a turbocharged flat-4 2.0L (then later a 2.5L), Subaru Boxer engine. Compared to the base Impreza, the WRX has a turbo-charged drivetrain, wider low-profile tires, larger brakes, and firmer, higher-quality suspension components.
The Impreza WRX was first sold in North America in 2001 as a 2002 model year. Contents 1 GC chassis (1992-2000) 1.1 Japan-spec 1.1.1 GC8A (11/1992-9/1993)

There have been seven noted versions of the WRX. The STI versions were marketed with consecutive numbers. Another way to determine the version of a WRX was to look at the chassis code. All WRX sold between 1992 and 2000 have the beginning chassis code of GC8 sedan or GF8 wagon; this is followed by a letter from A to G.

Subaru Impreza
Subaru Forester [edit] GC8A (11/1992-9/1993)
The WRX debuted in November 1992 with 240 PS (176.5 kW; 236.7 hp) at 6000 rpm with 31 kg·m (300 N·m; 220 lb·ft) at 5000 rpm. Both front and rear brake rotors were ventilated disks. The vehicle had a curb weight of 1,220 kg (2,690 lb). The center differential was a viscous coupling type. The rear LSD was a viscous type. The WRX Type RA (marketing has made usage of the RA acronym in various ways; Record Attempt[1] is the current usage. "R = Racing, A = Group A, the FIA racing class the WRC Impreza competes in" has also been confirmed by Subaru of Japan; the correspondence can be seen on the discussion board for this article) is a stripped down version of the WRX for people to purchase for motorsports. It does not have many "creature comforts" such as air-conditioning or a radio. The car also lacks anti-lock brakes. The WRX Type RA has had a weight reduction to 1,170 kg (2,579 lb), and uses a closer ratio gearbox. The WRX Type RA steering wheel is a 3 spoke leather-wrapped wheel from Nardi.
[edit] GC8B (10/1993-8/1994)
In October, 1993, Subaru introduced the 1994MY WRX which produced 240 PS (176.5 kW; 236.7 hp) at 6500 rpm with 28.5 kg·m (279 N·m; 206 lb·ft) at 5000 rpm. The wheels remained the same size. The rear rotors were substituted from drum brakes to solid disk. The vehicle gained 30 kg (66 lb) to a total curb weight of 1,250 kg (2,756 lb). October 1993 was also the start of production of the wagon version, with 220 PS (162 kW; 217 hp).
It is also debated whether or not it was just the GF8 Wagon received the 220 PS (161.8 kW; 217.0 hp) engine or if the 1994 WRX received it as well. Previously this entry stated the WRX engine was downgraded to 220 PS (161.8 kW; 217.0 bhp).
WRX SA Model (which had the totally different chassis which was designed by Aiden Humphries)
built May 1993 until Sep 1994 (GF8-B only) came as auto and manual. with or without aircon on both models. the engine and ecu was the same as the normal wrx wagon (manual or auto models) had colour coded mirrors but black door handles came in colours deep blue (331), deep green (307), flamy red (936), light silver (406), black mica (47a), feather white (230)
[edit] GC8C (9/1994-9/1996)
In November 1994, the WRX had a power increase to 260 PS (191.2 kW; 256.4 hp) at 6500 rpm with 31.5 kg·m (309 N·m; 228 lb·ft) at 5000 rpm. The wheel diameters were increased to 16 inches (410 mm) and brake rotors were both changed to ventilated disks. With these modifications, the curb weight decreased to 1,230 kg (2,712 lb). In Japan, the WRX was also offered in the Sport Wagon and was called the Impreza Gravel Express but was discontinued due to very limited sales, and replaced by the Subaru Forester.
The 1996 WRX debuted on January 1996. The WRX design received minimal mechanical changes, but a WRX V-Limited Edition was introduced to celebrate the success of the Impreza WRC car in the FIA WRC. It was mechanically the same to the WRX but had a curb weight nudge to 1,240 kg (2,734 lb). The V-limited cars are painted in World Rally Blue.
[edit] GC8D (9/1996-9/1997)
In September 1996, the WRX was updated with new styling. The 1997 WRX now has a power rating of 280 PS (205.9 kW; 276.2 hp) at 6500 rpm with 33.5 kg·m (329 N·m; 242 lb·ft) at 4000 rpm (280 PS (205.9 kW; 276.2 hp) at 6500 rpm with 35.9 kg·m (352 N·m; 260 lb·ft) 4000 rpm for the wagon version). The car now weighs 1,250 kg (2,756 lb).
[edit] GC8F (9/1998-9/1999)
Produced from 9/1998 through 9/1999. Mechanically this was virtually the same as its predecessor. The torque was increase a little from 242 lb ft to 250 lb ft at 4000 rpm. The weight also continues to increase and is set at 2800 lb.
[edit] GC8G (9/1999-9/2000)
The last version of the WRX is introduced on September 1999. There is no change in the mechanical specifications. Added features are newly-designed alloy wheels, color-coded mirrors and door handles, remote central locking, intermittent wipers with a timer and map lights. Red Mica had replaced Bright Red..
[edit] UK-spec
[edit] GC8A (1992)
The WRX was introduced as the Impreza GT (Europe), Turbo 2000(UK). It came with 208 hp (155 kW; 211 PS).
[edit] GC8E (1997)
The Subaru Impreza WRX GT's(Turbo 2000) interior and face have been updated to leather.
[edit] UK-spec Special Variants
[edit] "1.8GL" (1993)
Subaru imported six Type RS's, the development car that led to the stripped-out Type RA. For UK car certification reasons they were registered as 1.8GL's despite having big turbos attached to 2 litre engines. Three cars went to Prodrive; three were retained by Subaru UK and were subsequently sold.
[edit] Series McRae UK Version (June 1995)
To commemorate Colin McRae's success in the international rally scene and his 1994 RAC win in particular, Subaru released 200 limited edition 'Series M cRae' cars, prepared by Prodrive. These vehicles were finished in a very limited 'Rally Blue' mica colour scheme, sported gold 6.5"x16" Speedline 'Safari' alloy wheels, McRae decals, individual numbered badging from 1-201 (car no. 13 was never built since the number 13 is considered unlucky), and a factory-fitted electric tilt/slide sunroof. Recaro seats were fitted in the front, and the rear seats and side panels were retrimmed in the same Le Mans/Avus material.
On the road price was £22,999.
McRae Owners Club [1]
[edit] Catalunya (March 1997)
200 cars (again excluding car number 13) in Black Mica with red flecks riding on gold alloy wheels were made to celebrate winning Subaru's second WRC manufacturer's title at the Rally of Spain (Catalunya). The car was sold for £21,610. A similar car in Blue Mica was sold in Italy.
[edit] Turbo Terzo (April 1998)
333 Cars In Blue Mica And Gold Alloys, to celebrate their manufacturer's WRC title. It cost £22,995.
Subaru won a hat-trick of manufacturer championships and celebrated once again by releasing a new special edition Impreza. The Subaru Impreza Terzo (Italian for 3rd). Only 333 Subaru Impreza Terzos were made, as a mark of the three championships won with the Subaru Impreza.
[edit] RB5 (1999) "RB5" redirects here. For the Formula One car, see Red Bull RB5. Subaru Impreza RB5 To celebrate the return of British driver Richard Burns to the rally team in car number 5, a limited edition of 444 cars in "Steel Blue" (aka Cool Grey) was created. The basic £24,995 model had little more than cosmetic differences, but most had the WR Sport Performance Pack, an option consisting of a new ECU and exhaust for 240 PS (177 kW; 237 hp) and 350 N·m (258 lb·ft) torque. The price for the higher spec car was £27,495. [2]. There was also an optional Prodrive suspension pack that cost extra again. Standard Impreza Turbos could be fitted with the suspension pack and cosmetics to create a 'Prodrive WR Sport'.
[edit] Prodrive WR Sport (1999)
The standard Impreza Turbo 2000 was tuned and partly restyled by Prodrive. It featured a Prodrive - exclusive interior, a Prodrive suspension upgrade, Prodrive bodykit and wheels, WR Sport decals and an optional ECU upgrade for increased performance. It sold for £30000.00

The version nomenclature was dropped from the name, though Japan, New Zealand and Australia still refer to them as versions 7, 8, 9 and 10. To distinguish between the years, Japanese and other auto-enthusiasts often refer to the chassis as GDA (the WRX had an 'A' where as the STi had a 'B') revision A to G where G is the current (2007) version. The wagon chassis is given a GGA code.
The WRX has received two styling updates. The exterior "bug eyed" styling was widely regarded as attractive, so Subaru introduced a mild facelift (called 'crocodile eyes'; although 'blob eyes' is used with a small negative connotation) of the front end in the 2002 Paris Auto Show. A third update was introduced in mid-2005, including the performance models, with the controversial "jet intake and wings" grille first debuted on the Subaru R1 kei car, along with new headlights (referred to as 'hawk eyes'; or 'pig nose' due to the shape and orientation of the grille), taillights, and bumpers. Subaru states that they chose this style to go back to their heritage, paying homage to their grandfathered company, the Nakajima Aircraft Company

[edit] Rev. A (2000)
August 2000 brings the 2001MY WRX NB sedan. It has an EJ205 with AVCS coupled with an MHI TD04L turbocharger. The engine produces 250 PS (184 kW) at 6000 rpm with 34 kg·m (333 N·m) at 3600 rpm. The wheels are 16-inch (410 mm) in diameter. The car uses 2 pot/1 pot front and rear brakes. The front brake rotors are ventilated while the rear are solid disks. It has a torsen rear LSD and a 4.44 final drive ratio. The transmission has close-ratio gears unique to Subaru of Japan at that point in time. The car has a curb weight of 1,340 kg (2,954 lb).
[edit] Rev. B (2001)
The 2002MY WRX NB sedan debuts on September 2001. The mechanical specifications are similar to the previous year's model but the curb weight has been increased to 1,350 kg (2,976 lb).
[edit] Rev. C (2002)
The WRX NB-R sedan is released on November 2002. The power and torque ratings are the same as the previous year. The wheel diameters are increased to 17" in size. The rear brake rotor is changed to a ventilated disk, leaving the car to use only ventilated disks for braking. The car has 4 pot/2 pot front and rear brakes. The rear wing is on wing risers. The car now weighs 1,361 kg (3,000 lb).
[edit] Rev. D (2003)
The WRX line receives a body exterior update and an improved transmission
[edit] Rev. E (2004)
The WRX WR-limited is introduced. The car receives an STI spoiler and an STI front chin. There is a WR-stickered titanium shift knob. The wheels are changed for STI, gold-colored Rays-sourced wheels.v df df
[edit] Rev. F (2005)
The WRX has an option to receive the same spoiler as the WRX STI and receives gold 17" x 7" wheels. The WRX has a viscous rear LSD now.
[edit] Rev. G (2007)
The car is mechanically the same as the previous Japan-spec revision.
[edit] US-spec
[edit] Rev. A (2000)
WRX's initial release date 2000
[edit] Rev. B (2001)
North America receives its first Impreza WRX models. They are equipped with an EJ205 engine rated at 227 hp (169 kW) at 6000 rpm with 217 lb·ft (294 N·m) at 4000 rpm. Unlike the Japanese EJ205, the US-spec engine uses a Mitsubishi TD04-13T turbocharger unit. In stock form, it reaches a peak 14.7 psi (1.0 bar) of boost. The seats are the same as the basic J-spec Impreza. The wheels are cast 16” x 6.5” version of the J-spec WRX NB wheels while the brakes are 2-piston/1-piston front and rear with the front rotors being ventilated disks. 2002 WRXs came with brake duct plates that guided the air in the front bumper vent to the wheel well. The gear ratios are the standard export models, but the final drive is a 3.9:1 ratio. The rear LSD is a viscous coupling type. The steering rack has a ratio of 16.5:1. The 4 gear electronic automatic transmission (4EAT) WRXs have a Variable Torque Distribution AWD system instead of the conventional viscous coupling center differential. VTD employs an electronically controlled hydraulic transfer clutch and a planetary gear center differential to distribute power in a 45:55 split between the front and rear axles under normal circumstances. The VTD system uses multiple sensors to measure front and rear driveshaft speeds, throttle position and gear selection. Then it actively transfers power accordingly between the front and rear wheels for optimum traction and handling. The WRX weighs 3,085 lb (1,399 kg).
[edit] Rev. C (2002-2003) 2004–2005 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon There are few changes from Rev. B. The gears are changed to RA-width gears (1 mm increase in size) to increase durability of the transmission. There is also a valve that prevents “drop-clutch” starts in an effort to reduce the number of shattered gear boxes from abusive AWD launching. The ignition ring is now illuminated with green lighting. Early 2002 WRXs had brake duct plates. At the end of calendar year 2002, the brake duct plates were no longer equipped on the WRXs. A shorter metal fuel pipe and longer connector hose were implemented under the intake manifold to avoid fuel leaks at freezing temperatures. The 2003 WRX also came equipped with slightly larger front brake rotors than the 2002.
[edit] Rev. D (2004)
The WRX received the same Peter Stevens-designed face lift that rest of the Imprezas received. The WRX uses the same contoured seats as the 2004 US-spec WRX STI. The WRX is equipped with multi-phase valve struts to improve ride quality while retaining good handling. The tachometer was moved to center, and the speedometer was moved to the right.
[edit] Rev. E (2005)
The WRX received an updated interior, body color rocker panels, black painted headlamp bezels, and wheels that were previously seen on the base US-spec Legacy and a single-port exhaust. Some WRX models have an STI hood scoop that is much larger than other WRX scoops. The suspension has also received a few small updates to make handling more efficient compared to the 2004 model. Cassette players in the stereo system were no longer offered as well.
Note: Saab released its 9-2X Aero, from its 9-2X line, which is essentially a re-skinned Impreza WRX Wagon of the same model year. It is manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries, Ltd.
[edit] Rev. F (2006) 2006-2007 Subaru WRX sedan (US) 2006-2007 Subaru WRX wagon (US) For 2006 the Subaru Impreza WRX received a complete front-end re-design, boldly styled headlights with smoke-tinted lenses, a three-section mesh-type grill, and distinguished new tail lamp clusters. Three trims levels are available: WRX TR (Tuner Ready), WRX, and Limited. The car’s curb weight is 3,140 lb (1,424 kg) for the WRX TR, 3,192 lb (1,448 kg) for the WRX, an d 3240 for the WRX Limited.
The biggest change was the 2.5-liter turbocharged intercooled EJ255 engine, producing 230 hp (172 kW) at 5600 rpm. It replaced the 2.0-liter EJ205 engine used since the WRX model's introduction. The larger-displacement engine produced 235 lb·ft (319 N·m) of peak torque at 3,600 rpm, compared to 217 lb·ft (294 N·m) at 4,000 rpm for the previous WRX. Performance was improved in all speed ranges, with greater emphasis on low-end and mid-range torque. The 2.5-liter WRX engine shared architecture and technology with the WRX STI engine, including Subaru Active Valve Control System (AVCS) variable valve timing and an Electronic Throttle Control system. The turbocharger remained the same unit as on the 2002-2005MY US-spec WRXs, but peaked at 14.8 psi (1.0 bar) of boost. The first gear in the transmission received dual-ring synchros to improve downshifts from 2nd to 1st and reduce notchiness.
2006 Impreza WRX models gained some chassis and braking system enhancements. On sedan models, aluminum front suspension lower A-arms reduced unsprung weight. (The rear suspension gained forward aluminum lateral links in the 2005 model year.) The steering rack was updated for improved steering feel and the steering rack ratio was been changed to 15.0:1. On all WRX models, 7-spoke 17 x 7-inch (180 mm) aluminum-alloy wheels replaced the previous 5 spoke 16 x 6.5-inch (170 mm) wheels. Tires were 215/45ZR17 versus 205/55R16 before. The more powerful brake system employed 11.5 in (292 mm) vented front discs and four-piston calipers instead of the previous versions two-piston calipers. The rear brakes were 11.3 in (287 mm) ventilated discs replacing the previous 10.3 in (262 mm) solid discs, and two-piston calipers replacing single-piston calipers. The calipers are painted red with the SUBARU name in white overlain.
The horsepower and torque numbers are likely underrated, as shown by independent dynamometer tests.[2] If the 2005MY US-spec WRX had 217 lb·ft (294 N·m) of torque, then the 2006MY US-spec WRX's 235 lb·ft (319 N·m) should show a minimal amount of increase on the dynamometer. However, tests have shown that a 2006MY US-spec WRX puts out a higher peak torque rating than a 2005MY US-spec WRX with Stage 2 Cobb Tuning (turboback exhaust and engine control unit reflash).[3] Dynamometer tests by Cobb on a base 2006 WRX show202 hp (151 kW) at the wheels.
[edit] Rev. G (2007)
Ikuo Mori takes the place of Kyoji Takenaka as President and CEO of Fuji Heavy Industries.
As a cost-cutting effort, the WRX has its aluminum suspension reverted to steel-cast pieces. The WRX and Limited trim levels receive an auxiliary audio port next to the cigarette lighter and MP3 CD playback.
[edit] Asia-spec
Depending on the country, one may be able to buy either Oceania-spec, Europe-spec or US-spec WRXs. There are no models unique to the Asian market outside Japan.
[edit] UK-spec
[edit] WRX UK300 (2001)
Subaru produced 300 examples of the UK300 to celebrate the rallying success in the UK from the previous years. It featured 18-inch-Prodrive-OZ-wheels in gold, Pirelli Rosso P Zero Tyres, a blue Alcantara Interior, UK300 floor mats, UK300 headlights, UK300 exclusive front and rear spoilers and UK300 decals.
[edit] WRX 300 (2005)
300 vehicles limited to the UK market were sold with Blue Mica exterior paint, 17" gold alloy wheels with 215/45 tyres, Subaru World Rally Team branded front bucket seats, a 5-speed manual transmission and the Prodrive Performance Package (PPP) all as standard equipment. The Performance Package increased power to 265 PS (195 kW; 261 hp) and 348 N·m (257 lb·ft) torque and equipped the car with a 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 151 mph (243 km/h). 12 months' free subscription to RAC Trackstar was included in the basic on the road price of £21495.00 (approx. $31800). Considering that the total on the road price of the standard non-limited edition Prodrive Performance Pack equipped Impreza WRX was £21900.00, the WRX 300 represented very good value for money. Optional extras included a 18" P-FF7 wheel and tyre package, a Prodrive brake upgrade (front brakes only), a sports suspension upgrade and a special edition rear spoiler.
[edit] RB320 (2006) Subaru Impreza RB320 at the Nürburgring In 2006 Subaru UK release the limited edition Subaru Impreza RB320 in honor of the late Richard Burns, who died in 2005 from cancer. Richard won the 2001 WRC Championship for SWRT.
The RB320 was available only in Obsidian Black, also features bespoke 18 inch alloy wheels and specially developed Prodrive suspension comprising Bilstein dampers, a sports spring kit with revised rear anti-roll bar and a ride height lowered by 30 mm (1.2 in) at the front and 10 mm (0.4 in) at the rear.
Also standard was a chrome mesh front grille, front lip spoiler, quickshift gearchange, side sill plates and RB320-branded gear knob, carpet mats and exclusive exterior badging. Each owner will also receive an individually numbered black alloy tax disc holder.
The Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP) boosts power to 320 PS (235 kW; 316 hp) at 6,000 rpm with torque leaping to 332 lb·ft (450 N·m) at 3,700 rpm. This reduces the 0-60 mph time to 4.8 seconds with a 0-100 mph time of 12.2 seconds.
[edit] GB270 (2007)
Subaru produced only 400 cars; 300 4dr saloon versions and 100 5dr hatchback models. The GB270 was available in either WR Blue Mica (4dr) or Urban Grey Metallic (5dr). The name was derived from the 2.5 litre turbocharged engine which produced 270 PS (199 kW; 266 hp) and 420 N·m (310 lb·ft) of torque. These upgrades meant a 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.9 seconds was possible and 146 mph (235 km/h) top speed could be achieved. The top speed of the GB270 was slightly lower than that of other Imprezas because it featured a Prodrive Quickshift 5-speed gearbox which offered faster gear shifts compared to the standard 6-speed gearbox.
Prodrive fitted their upgraded suspension system, lowering height of the car by 30 mm (1 in) at front and 10 mm (0 in) at rear.
A Prodrive anti-roll bar, Prodrive polished stainless-steel mesh front grille, a set of bespoke 18" Prodrive alloy wheels - Silver on 4dr, Black on 5dr were included in the £22,995.00 on the road price.

[edit] Rev. A (2001)
The WRX has an EJ205 rated at 218 PS (160 kW; 215 hp) @ 6000 rpms. It carries 17” x 7” wheels and has 4-piston/2-piston front and rear brakes with ventilated disk rotors all around.
[edit] Rev. B (2002)
Due to complaints of slower acceleration in comparison to the GC-chassis WRX, the gear ratios and diff ratio are changed to the same specifications as the Japanese domestic market WRX to improve overtaking and in gear acceleration. The result is near identical first and second gear ratios to the GC, but with a noticeably shorter third, fourth and fifth gear.
Also added was a Suretrac limited slip rear differential. Japanese engineers claimed that drive would still be directed to the gripping wheel even if the other wheel was off the ground.
[edit] Rev. D (2004)
The WRX received the same Peter Stevens-designed facelift that rest of the Imprezas received. During 2005 a limited edition Subaru Impreza WRX WRP10 was produced, but limited to 200 vehicles.

Due to complaints of the slower acceleration of the GD-chassis WRX compared to the GC-chassis WRX, the gear ratios are changed to the same specifications as the Japanese-spec WRX to improve acceleration.
[edit] Rev. D (2004)
The WRX received the same Peter Stevens-designed facelift that rest of the Imprezas received. The engine powerplant was improved to 225 PS (165 kW). Some cost reductions were made, such as downgrading the stereo.
[edit] Rev. F (2006)
2006: Europe receives WRXs with the EJ25. The power output is 230 PS (169 kW) @ 5600 rpm with 32.6 kg*m (320N*m) @ 3600 rpm. The car weighs 1,405 kg (3,097 lb). The final drive ratio on this car is 4.111:1. The car also received the same facelift as the other markets.
[edit] GC chassis comparison with the GD chassis
[edit] Pros
Subaru claims that the GD chassis is 148 percent and 82 percent stiffer in torsional and beam rigidity, respectively, than the GC chassis. This stiffness is primarily due to the addition of a steel "ring" which encircles the cabin at the B-pillar. While the stiffness was increased for passenger safety, it has the added benefit of providing more stability for motorsports events.
In terms of safety, the GD chassis scored much higher than the GC chassis and earned a "Good" rating (highest mark) from the IIHS's offset crash test. 4 stars front driver, 5 star front passenger and 4 star side safety ratings from the NHTSA. In a magazine article from the Dec. 2005 Firehouse magazine (a periodical written and made for firefighters), Ron Moore writes how it is well-known that the Impreza chassis has great protection in its B-pillars. This side structure has 8 layers of high-strength, high-tension steel including a round steel bar running through the middle. The author notes how drivers simply walk away from horrific side-impact accidents.
[edit] Cons
The GD chassis gains nearly 200 kg (441 lb) in weight over the GC chassis. Most of this weight comes in the form of chassis stiffening as the car was made to meet every country's crash standards. The weight also hampers the cars maneuverability, transitions and turn-in capabilities.[citation needed] The GC Imprezas were notable for being very lightweight despite having AWD. The WRX Type R STI Version VI using the GC chassis, at 1,260 kg (2,778 lb), was lighter than the competing Mazda RX-7 type RZ (1,270 kg (2,800 lb)) and Honda NSX type S Zero (1270 kg). In this fashion, the GC chassis has a better advantage.
The author of the aforementioned article also notes that the Jaws of Life need to cut the Subaru's B-pillars at certain points in order to cut through the car frame.[4] This information was not widespread before, so there have been many incidences where firefighters could not cut the B-pillars due to their structural integrity. This may become a concern if the driver or passengers need to be cut out of the vehicle quickly.

Subaru Impreza
Subaru Impreza WRX STi The Impreza WRX was redesigned for the 2008 model year and is now based on a shortened Subaru Legacy platform. The new chassis represents a departure from some Subaru traditions with full framed doors and a hatchback body style for the STI and WRX versions. Subaru made an effort to control the weight of the new chassis. Despite the increase in size, stiffness, and safety equipment, the car's weight is similar to the previous chassis at 3,142 lb (1,425 kg) for the 5 speed manual and 3,208 lb (1,455 kg) for the 4 speed automatic.
The engine used is still the EJ255. The front suspension uses a MacPherson strut setup with steering ratio of 15:1, while the rear is a new double wishbone suspension. The US-spec WRX reverts back to a 2-piston/1-piston sliding calipers (dropping the 4-piston/2-piston fixed caliper setup), but have grown to 11.6-inch (295 mm) in the front and 11.3-inch (287 mm) in the rear, the same as the BL5-chassis US-spec Legacy 2.5GT and Spec B.

In response to criticism that the new 2008 WRX was too soft, some changes were made for the 2009 model year. The EJ25 received a boost of 41 horsepower (31 kW) and 18 lb·ft (24 N·m) of torque, bringing the total output to 265 bhp (198 kW; 269 PS) and 244 lb·ft (331 N·m) of torque by swapping the previous TD04 turbo to an IHI VF52. This WRX is capable of 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds and a standing 1/4 mile in 13.5 seconds at 102 mph (164 km/h).[5] In addition, the 2009 model received stiffer suspension parts from the STi model, an aerodynamic package and Dunlop SP Sport 01 summer performance tires as standard equipment. Cosmetic changes included an updated mesh grill with WRX badge and darker wheels. The WRX is also only available with 5-speed manual transmission. In the USA, the 4-speed automatic is only available on a new Impreza model called the 2.5 GT, which features the same 2.5L 4-cylinder 224 hp (167 kW; 227 PS) Subaru Boxer Turbo engine as in the 2008 WRX. While in Canada, the 265 hp (198 kW) engine was an option on WRX 265 models in 2009 and the 224 hp (167 kW) is discontinued in Canada for 2010.[6]
[edit] 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX
For year model 2011, the Impreza WRX will get the widebody look in both sedan and hatchback, similar to the STi and the addition of quad muffler tips with diffuser which changes the look of the rear end, while the STi model will have more aggressive, bulging fenders. The new model gains 33 pounds over the previous 2010 WRX models. The wider body gives the 2011 WRX wider track dimensions. The new exterior design is being marketed to attract younger buyers.
An approximately 1.5-inch (38 mm) increase in front and rear track, firmer rear sub-frame bushings and wider 17-inch wheels and tires deliver improved grip in the 2011 WRX. The standard wheels are now 17 x 8 in (203 mm). vs. 17 x 7 in (178 mm). in the 2010 model, and tire size is now 235/45R17 vs. 225/45R17. The 2011 WRX will arrive in dealerships in the summer of 2010.
[edit] Motorsports 2006 Impreza Rally Car Stéphane Sarrazin driving a Subaru Impreza WRC on the Monte Carlo Rally Mock-up of 2008 Subaru Impreza WRC as shown at the 2007 Sydney Motor Show [edit] Subaru Impreza 2007 WRC
Subaru Rally Team revealed the new 2007 Impreza WRC Car on Friday 2 March with just seven days before the Rally of Mexico. Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson have big hopes for the new Impreza after their not-so-impressive 2006 season in which they could not even win a single rally. As the teams left their base in England heading towards what will hopefully be a competitive weekend for rally Mexico they released details of the 2007 Impreza that will be competing for the rest of the season.
From the outside the New Impreza doesn’t look that different. Most of the work has been carried out on improving the performance and creating a car with more balanced tire wear. The team has worked with engineers and designers in Japan focusing on weight distribution, suspension and differential set ups and new dampers have been used to improve road holding.
The work on the new engine has been aimed at weight reduction. The work has included producing a new intercooler design with a turbo air inlet now going through the bonnet scoop. The FIA’s rules about aerodynamics have led to the removal of several apertures on the front and side of the bodywork which have been partially blanked off. The airflow under the bonnet now emerges through air exit holes on the side rather than in the middle of the bonnet.
The Impreza’s hydraulic control of the centre differential has been redesigned to improve its effectiveness and the exhaust has been moved to exit out of the rear bumper. The Subaru team has already started to design the '08 car but no decisions of when it will make its debut have been decided.
[edit] FIA
Currently only the higher powered version of the WRX, the WRX STI is homologated for Group N rallying. However, the S9 and newer models of the Impreza WRC car have a GDA chassis code. This fact signifies that the Impreza WRC cars are built off the WRX chassis rather than the STi chassis.

Also check your vacuum lines. I know that with some of the vacuum lines from the intake, if they are disconnected the car runs a little strangely. Check for a check engine light. Sometimes the o2 sensor might be malfunctioning causing the engine to apply more fuel. Double check the fuel lines before and after the fuel filter and make sure they are on correctly and not leaking. That is all I could really think of, hope this helps.
