MAPS (intelligent mode gives best economy, Sport mode gives a mixture of economy and performance and sport sharp gives improved throttle response and all the grunt the 3.0 flat six has to offer), and being the tourer looks (in my opinion) a lot sharper than the saloon. This is quite a rare car as most of the Spec B`s have the lethargic automatic gearbox.This car is in excellent condition and has been maintained by PROSPORT Subaru. For people who don`t know PROSPORT they are renowned in Subaru circles for being the best in the area. This car is completely original apart from the brake disks and pads which have been uprated to EBC disks and EBC Red pads so it now stops as well as it goes. Also the power output is booked at 242bhp but the manual SI Drive version is often dyno`d at 269-270bhp in standard form. I’m selling it only because I am now so convinced of the benefits of a Legacy with LPG that I am buying a much newer one and getting it converted. Good points No known faults other than those listed. Drives well and everything functions as it should. No nasty noises. It is a car which has clearly been well-maintained throughout its life. History Imported from Japan in 2007. This is a Japanese market ‘Grand Wagon’, which is an Outback by another name, but has a higher spec (for instance, electric folding mirrors, heating elements in side windows, etc). I bought it from the dealer who imported it. He stated that the mileage (now 182 000 km = 114 000 miles) is warranted. The dealer had it waxoiled on arrival in the UK, and it is remarkably rust-free. The timing belt service was done on arrival and it will not need to be done again for a while. Lots of service history, including Japanese history, and a pile of receipts. Recent work The car has recently had a new stainless exhaust with guarantee, new battery, anti-roll bar bushes, and aircon compressor overhauled with new bearings and seals. The tyres (Bridgestone Dueler) are all fairly recent and have a beefy tread which is a help in winter weather. There is a security alarm, and a decent aftermarket radio made by Panasonic. Bad points: The central locking operates intermittently. It’s reliable in cold weather, but gets temperamental when it warms up. The driver’s seat shows signs of wear, but this is just wear to the surface of the alcantara, and there are no splits or other damage.. The wear does not show up in the photo. The original boot carpet, which is stuck down, has been damaged by spilling something solvent-based, so I have overlaid this with another matching carpet (genuine Subaru), and there is a rubber load liner over the whole lot. For peace of mind budget for a new cambelt.The car has had one owner for most of its life, when it was bought by a local Subaru specialist around 3 years ago for a project car. I needed a new fuel pump so an uprated pump has been fitted and the car was then checked over and recommissioned. All fluids were checked and replaced where needed. Brakes all cleaned and replaced. O/S rocker cover removed and gasket resealed with correct Subaru sealant.The engine is worth the money alone in this auction. This is an early EJ20 closed deck block as used by Subaru for rallying, and in the early Imprezas. In standard trim producing 200bhp, this has the advantage of oil spray bars for piston cooling. Suitable for big horsepower builds with the right internals, this is the engine to have. Runs without fault, no oil leaks, no knocks at all, no rattles even from cold start. Turbo is very quiet and strong, pulling well from 3,000 rpm to the red line. Temp gauge sits perfectly at the half way mark. All warning lights light up and extinguish when the engine is started. Also this engine is fitted with the much more efficient water charge cooler system instead of the top mount air/air intercooler.Gearbox is quiet and smooth, no crunches through the gears. No popping out of gear on overrun. Differentials are quiet front and rear, no locking of the centre diff on full lock. No clicking of CV joints.Brakes are very good, with new discs and pads all round and fresh fluid.Condition of the car is very good all round. There are small spots of rust around the car, but all are minor and can be easily sorted if wanted. Front cross member under radiator could do with repair or replacement, but is still solid. As you can see the car is a manual (6 Speed) and I believe to be quite rare compared to most Spec B`s available. The Spec B is losely based using the Impreza STi set up. Using the same gearbox and Suspension. However the main difference is the 3.0 litre boxer engine that produces plenty of torque and an original quoted BHP of around 245. I believe in being an open and honest seller and I will give a true assessment on the car: The car has some service history and as you can imagine with the mileage the car is showing signs of wear tear. But I believe this is reflected in the asking price. There is an intermitent fault on the immobilisor that causes (on occasion) the car not to start. However. This is resolved by turning the ignition on for around 15sec until the immobilisor recognises the key. I have been told this could be a simple loose connection or possibly requires a new immobilsor reciever on the steering column. The lacquer on the alloy wheels has lifted on most of the wheels, but this seems to be a common issue with the type of alloy fitted to this model. But again all the wheels could be refurbished to an as new condition for around £150. Tyres are in good condition with new ones fitted to the rear at the beginning of the year. The Legacy is a fully loaded car with in built navigation system, 6 disc autochanger, cruise control, leather interior with powered/heated front seats. Standard Road tax of around £215 per year (robbing government!) I truely believe this is a great car and for the money has to be bargain. So the real important bit...Price £3500 ono X
